Arson Suspected In Fire That Destroyed Emily Bar

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The State Fire Marshal is seeking more information after a popular northern Minnesota bar was destroyed in a fire over the Fourth of July weekend. The fire is suspected as arson.

The Bungalow Tap House in Emily, just north of Brainerd, was a total loss after a fire in the early-morning hours of June 29. The bar is a staple of the small community and attracts people from all over Minnesota.

The structure was built in 1903 and is a popular gathering spot in the town of about 800 people. A resident saw the flames at about 3 a.m. and called 911. It took about 40 firefighters to battle the blaze, which authorities say started in the back dining room.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information in the case. Anyone with information should call the Minnesota Arson Hotline at (800) 723-2020.
