St. Paul Church Damaged By Arson Holds Fundraiser

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Members of a church in St. Paul are gathering Saturday night to rebuild after an arsonist destroyed part of it.

Flames damaged an addition to Saint Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church on Dec. 12, ruining some classrooms and offices.

Gregory Louis Knox, 27, turned himself in to police hours after the fire.

Church members and others from the West Seventh area are helping raise money for repairs.

A benefit -- featuring a silent auction, live music and food to help raise rebuilding efforts -- will be held from 6 p.m. til 10 p.m. Saturday night.

Contributions to help repair the church can be sent to the "Saint Mark Fire Fund" at BankCherokee, 607 Smith Ave. S., St. Paul, MN, 55107.

Donations are tax-deductible. Call 651-227-7071 for more information, or contact Ann Blumer-LaMotte at 612-328-5641. You can also email her at ablphotographymn@gmail.com.
