Grand Rapids Man Arrested In Itasca County Homicide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Grand Rapids man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in northern Minnesota.

The Itasca County Sheriff's office found the body of a man in rural Deer River on Sunday. That man was identified as 20-year-old David Haiman from Hibbing. His body was found after Deer River police were investigating a report of a stolen vehicle and a missing person.

As part of the investigation, deputies arrested 36-year-old Joseph Thoresen. Haiman's body was found in a location other than where the vehicle was found. His death has been ruled a homicide.

They say the men knew each other, the incident was isolated and the public is not in danger.

The incident remains under investigation by the Itasca County Sheriff's Office.
