Army Reserve Hosts Ceremony For Returning Twin Cities Soldiers

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – They returned home months ago, but dozens of soldiers from a Twin Cities based unit are now getting recognition for their tour of duty overseas.

The Army Reserve hosted a Welcome Home Warrior Citizen ceremony in Arden Hills, Minn. for members of the 203rd Transportation Company.

Nearly 100 soldiers spent nine months in Afghanistan hauling supplies and cargo.

The unit had staggered arrival home in April so this ceremony recognized the entire group.

Each of the soldiers took home an encased flag to mark their tour of duty.

"I think that the soldiers nowadays are extremely lucky because the ones that served before us, the ones we should be thanking because we are here, didn't get the recognition we do," Sgt. Eileen Cedarholm said.

It's nice. It's nice that people recognize us and that they appreciate what we do," Sgt. Anthony Cedarholm said.

Family and friends of the soldiers were also there to celebrate the occasion.

This was the first time this unit has ever deployed overseas.
