Police: Wis. Man Died In House Fire He Set

SHELL LAKE, Wis. (AP) — Sheriff's officials say a man has died in a house fire he intentionally set in northwestern Wisconsin.

The Washburn County Sheriff's Department says deputies were called to a house in Minong about 11:30 p.m. Monday on a report of gunshots. Responding deputies heard additional gunshots when they arrived and saw a man armed with a knife breaking out windows in the house. Authorities say two females fled the home, but the 37-year-old man refused to leave and could be seen setting additional fires in the house.

Minong firefighters put out the fire. Sheriff's officials say the body of Gerold Featherly was found inside.
