Minneapolis Aquatennial Kicks Off Wednesday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minneapolis Aquatennial is in full swing.

The four-day celebration of the "Best Days Of Summer" kicks off Wednesday evening in downtown Minneapolis.

The CenterPoint Energy Torchlight Parade will start at 8:30 p.m. It runs down Hennepin Avenue from the Basilica of St. Mary to 5th Street. WCCO's Mike Augustyniak and Natalie Nyhus are this year's grand marshals.

Before the parade starts, there is always a 5K race. And again this year, WCCO's Kim Johnson will get the Twin Cities Orthopedics Torchlight 5K started.

It starts near the Basilica and ends by St. Anthony Main.

The Aquatennial runs through Saturday. For a full list of events, visit the Aquatennial online.
