Apple Valley, DeLaSalle Back To Defend Hoops Titles

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Apple Valley and DeLaSalle have returned to the Minnesota boys state basketball tournament to defend their titles from last year.

In Class 4A, Apple Valley is the No. 3 seed with a quarterfinal game Wednesday at Target Center against Blaine. Osseo is the No. 1 seed, and Hopkins is the No. 2 seed in a stacked big-school field in the 20th year of the four-class format.

DeLaSalle is the No. 1 seed in Class 3A with a quarterfinal game Wednesday at Williams Arena against Fridley.

In Class 2A, No. 1 seed St. Croix Lutheran starts Wednesday in the quarterfinals at Target Center against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.

And in Class 1A, Minneapolis North is the No. 1 seed with a quarterfinal matchup Thursday at Williams Arena against first-time entrant St. Clair.
