Resident Leaps From 2nd Floor During Iowa Apartment Fire

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — A woman has jumped to safety from a second-floor window and a man has been rescued by firefighters during a blaze at a Waterloo apartment building.

Authorities say the fire was reported at little after 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The woman limped away after landing on a satellite dish and later was taken by private vehicle to a hospital.

Waterloo fire battalion chief Michael Moore says the fire appears to have started in a laundry room. The cause is being investigated.
