Anoka-Hennepin Teachers, District Resume Contract Talks Monday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Teachers and administrators in one of Minnesota's largest school districts will resume negotiations Monday night in an effort to avoid a possible work stoppage.

Officials said the negotiating team for Anoka-Hennepin Education Minnesota, the group representing the teachers, will resume contract talks with district officials at about 5 p.m. Monday. The bargaining session came at the request of the district. The meeting will be held at the state Bureau of Mediation Services.

The teachers have already set an April 17 deadline for a strike vote, which would be held at the National Sports Center in Blaine. Negotiators from both sides have met 16 times over the past nine months without coming to a contract agreement.

Key issues between the teachers and the district include health insurance, compensation and a district proposal to change the salary schedule to target young teachers.
