Recount Upholds GOP Candidate Winning Minn. Senate Seat

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A recount has upheld a Republican candidate winning a Minnesota Senate seat in the western Minneapolis suburbs.

Unofficial results from Friday's recount show Republican Paul Anderson leading Democrat Deb Calvert in the Plymouth area race.

Anderson led Calvert by an unofficial 201 votes after the Nov. 8 election. The recount narrowed the margin to 195 votes.

Results will not be official until Hennepin County's canvassing is complete on Monday.

A recount is pending in another state Senate race. Democrat Dan Wolgamott says he'll request a recount in his central Minnesota race after the State Canvassing Board certifies the results on Nov. 29. Republican Jerry Relph led the election night count by an unofficial 142 votes.

Absent a reversal, Republicans will hold a majority of just one seat in the Senate.
