Ammonia Leak Sends Several To Hospital

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An ammonia leak in Stearns County Monday evening sent a number of people to the St. Cloud Hospital.

According to the county sheriff's office, a broken seal caused a 6,000-pound tanker to start leaking anhydrous ammonia. The lack of wind caused it to hover in a specific area, and not dissipate.

The Eden Valley Fire Department got the leak under control, but not before several people were exposed to the gas, including a Stearns County Deputy.

They were treated at St. Cloud Hospital for exposure.
