ALLETE Clean Energy Buys 2 Wind Farms For $47 Million

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — ALLETE Clean Energy is buying a wind generation facility near in southwestern Minnesota for $47.5 million.

The Duluth-based company will purchase the Chanarambie and Viking wind farms near Lake Benton from a subsidiary of EDF Renewable Energy. Sixty-five turbines produce a combined 97.5 megawatts of wind power for Northern States Power.

Last year, ALLETE Clean Energy closed on the purchase of three wind farms from AES Corp. in three different states. That includes a 104-megawatt wind farm in Lake Benton, about 20 miles Chanarambie and Viking wind farms.
