Alleged N. Minneapolis Gang Member Gets 7 Years On Firearms Charge

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - An alleged north Minneapolis gang member was sentenced Wednesday to more than seven years in prison.

Martel Javell Einfeldt, 26, also known as "Peanut," pleaded guilty in January to illegally possessing a semi-automatic Smith and Wesson pistol.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says the Brooklyn Park resident is a confirmed member of the north Minneapolis 19-Block Dipset gang.

Einfeldt had previously been convicted in Hennepin County of two felonies, aggravated robbery and simple robbery.

"He has been shot twice, in the chest and in the face, lost his half-sister to gang violence, and has predicted he will be dead in three years," U.S. Attorney David Steinkamp said. "Hopefully, this lengthy prison sentence will give the defendant the chance to change the course of his life and prevent his prediction from becoming a reality."

The case against Einfeldt was investigated by the Brooklyn Park Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Einfeldt was sentenced to 87 months in prison.
