Sheriff: 3 Hospitalized In Air Care Crash Near Alexandria

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say three people remain hospitalized after a medical helicopter flying to the Alexandria Airport to pick up a patient on Saturday crashed.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says a crew of one pilot, a flight nurse and a flight paramedic were on board when the crash happened at about 2:07 a.m. The patient was not on the helicopter at the time of the crash.

Authorities say all three aboard the helicopter, a North Memorial Air Care, to North Memorial Hospital. The pilot was identified as 47-year-old Joshua Jones, the flight paramedic was identified as 34-year-old Miles Weske and the flight nurse was identified as 44-year-old Scott Scepaniak.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are on the scene investigating what led up to the crash.
