Alcohol Suspected In 3-Car Crash That Injured 7

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials in Bemidji are investigating whether or not alcohol played a factor in a three-car crash over the weekend that left seven people injured.

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened just after 6 p.m. Sunday on Roosevelt Road near Frohn Road East.

A pickup truck, driven by 51-year-old Verlin Kingbird, was going west on Roosevelt when it crossed the center line, glanced off a car and slammed head-on into a sedan.

All seven people involved in the crash were brought to Sanford Emergency Department. One sedan passenger, 28-year-old Lisa Fineday, was listed in critical condition.

At the hospital, Kingbird was processed for suspicion of drunk driving, officials said.

Once lab results come in and the investigation is concluded, it'll be brought to the attention of the county attorney's office for possible charges.
