Alcohol Found In System Of Man Killed In Richfield Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A man who fatally crashed into two trees and a house in Richfield last month had "a significant quantity" of alcohol in his system, according to Richfield Police.

Just before 3:00 a.m. on March 6, a Richfield police officer saw a Dodge Caravan crash into a stop sign.

The officer pursued the driver, Travis Rheineck, but cancelled the pursuit due to Rheineck's speed and erratic driving.

Rheineck then crashed into two trees and a house. He was ejected and killed.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's toxicology report showed Rheineck had a blood alcohol level of 0.22, nearly three times the legal limit.
