Albert Lea Teen Suspected In Armed Gas Station Robbery

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An Albert Lea teen is in custody after allegedly robbing a gas station with a BB gun Friday night.

Police say they received a report of the robbery just before 9 a.m. at the Mileage Station on the 900 block of Main Street West. Officers and deputies soon formed a perimeter in the area.

A Minnesota Department of Natural Resources conservation officer then spotted and a male and gave chase under a viaduct near Skyline Mall, eventually catching the 16-year-old suspect by Hayek Park.

Albert Lea police say the teen had a mask, BB gun and cloth sack that contained cash.

He was taken to the Minnesota Correctional Faculty in Red Wing, where he awaits his first court appearance early next week.
