After Flooding, Klobuchar Confident MN Will Qualify For Federal Help
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar will head to Washington, D.C. on Monday to ask the President for help for Minnesotans who have been affected by the floods.
"This wasn't a one day, one moment event -- like a tornado. It was torrential rain that really eroded much of our crops and hurt our infrastructure," Klobuchar said.
Klobuchar was in Mankato on Sunday to tour the flood damage there.
She watched as the business community and several nonprofit groups came together to help after the flood waters damaged an apartment.
"They found places for the 39 families to go while their apartments are repaired," she said.
She said it's another example of how Minnesotans are coming together to help those affected by the flood waters.
Klobuchar said in order to meet the federal guidelines for help, there must be $7.3 million in damage before funds can be approved.
