After Wetterling Feature, Tips On His Disappearance

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) --The FBI and other law enforcement agencies are following up on potential new leads in the Jacob Wetterling disappearance.

CNN featured the nearly 25-year-old case Sunday on John Walsh's show "The Hunt."

Walsh said a bunch of tips came in after the show aired.

A man abducted Wetterling in St. Joseph, Minn., in 1989.

Walsh said he believes the same person is responsible for other unsolved attacks in Paynesville in the late 1980s.

Friday on WCCO Radio, Walsh urged anyone with information on the unsolved cases to come forward.

"This guy is still out there. He's still at large," he said. "I don't believe he went to work for Bank of America or joined the Peace Corps. It's a child predator, he's still out there and he needs to be brought to justice."

Police believe Wetterling's kidnapper is average height and weight, with a deep, raspy voice.

They say he could be in his early 50s today.
