A Year Later, Betsy The Dog Is Reunited With Owners

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A long journey for a family and their dog has a happy ending.

Betsy, the coon hound, ran away from her Faribault home about a year ago.

Her owners say they don't know how she got away but think she may have slipped out of her collar.

Weeks turned into months and months turned into a year without a trace of the dog.

But owner Josh found his dog on the Waseca County Humane Society website and was able to bring her home after he proved Betsy was part of his family.

"Family, it's the best thing you can have, and whether it's a family member with four legs or one that's walking on two little legs or someone that's been around you for years--it's a wonderful thing to have," he said.

Turns out Betsy was only 25 miles away in Le Center.

Her owner had some advice for anyone that loses a pet.

"Don't ever give up, just keep looking," he said.
