911 Emergency Lines Back Up After Outage

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The 911 emergency line is back up and running after an outage Saturday afternoon affected multiple counties in the metro area.

According to officials, a routing outage affected 911 calls that were made from landline phones.

According to Century Link, the 911 line was down in Sherburne, Stearns, Wright and Benton counties.

Hennepin County officials said that western parts of Hennepin County were also affected.

Century Link's Joanna Hjelmeland says they didn't know what caused the service to go down.

"Part of the restoration process is figuring out the exact cause. We have some strong leads that are being investigated right now, but right now we don't have a cause," Hjelmeland said.

As of 4 p.m. all 911 lines were back up and running.
