80-Year-Old Man Rescued From Grain Bin In SE Minn.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An 80-year-old man is recovering after spending hours trapped in a grain bin near Lewiston, Minn.

On Thursday at 11 a.m., the Winona County Sheriff's Office was alerted to the incident at a farm along County Road 25.

Winona County Sheriff David Brand says the victim, John Daley, went to clear a door and the corn started to pile up around him. Daley's foot then got stuck on a grate at the bottom of the bin.

Rescuers cut a hole near the bottom of the bin to pump the corn out. Daley was freed just after 2 p.m.

He was awake and talking during the rescue. The sheriff says his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
