8-Year-Old Organizes Major Fundraiser To Help Fight Hunger

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A little girl from Prior Lake is on a big mission.

Eight-year-old Sanya Pirani helped raise more than $17,000 for the nonprofit "Feed My Starving Children." The organization packs and ships meals to families worldwide.

Pirani was busy this summer organizing food drives. In Eagan Saturday, dozens joined her to pack up food for shipping.

Even Governor Dayton stopped by to lend a hand, and pay tribute to Pirani's hard work.

"I'm humbled today, because I'm surrounded by leaders, families and friends who care about less fortunate people and are willing to give their gift of time, knowledge and resources," Pirani said.

Pirani is currently working to raise enough money to feed a Haitian Village for a full year. Her goal is to raise more than $50,000.
