5 Candidates For Governor Woo Farmers At FarmFest

REDWOOD FALLS, Minn. (AP) — Five Minnesota candidates for governor have gathered at the annual FarmFest trade show, where they say they'd help farmers by promoting trade and easing environmental regulations.

The candidates Tuesday included four Republicans who square off in a primary next week: Jeff Johnson, Scott Honour, Marty Seifert and Kurt Zellers. Independence Party candidate Hannah Nicollet also participated.

Report say the Republican candidates criticized DFL Gov. Mark Dayton for not showing up.

The candidates generally agreed throughout the hour-long forum. For example, on the topic of labeling genetically modified food they said it's more important to have a single national policy rather than a state-by-state patchwork of laws.

Dayton is expected to attend FarmFest on Thursday.
