40 Pounds Of Marijuana Seized After 2-Vehicle Crash

WHEATLAND, Wyo. (AP) — A Minnesota man faces drug charges after Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers seized more than 40 pounds of marijuana while investigating a two-vehicle crash in southeastern Wyoming.

The patrol says 57-year-old Kraig Kahrs of Apple Valley, Minnesota, lost control of his vehicle on icy Interstate 25 north of Wheatland on Wednesday morning and rear-ended a pickup truck.

Responding officers followed footprints in the snow and discovered several trash bags in the ditch. A search of the bags and another in Kahrs' vehicle turned up vacuum sealed plastic packages of marijuana weighing about 41 pounds.

Kahrs was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He was expected to make an initial appearance in Platte County Circuit Court on Friday. The clerk of court's office says he does not yet have an attorney.
