4 Things To Know: Gas Prices Keep Dropping, David Bowie's Death & More

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- From falling gas prices to remembering both David Bowie and Natalie Cole, here are the four stories to know for Monday, Jan. 11.

Freddie Gray's Death Trial

Jury selection begins Monday in the trial of Caesar Goodson, the police officer who drove the van that carried Freddie Gray before his death.

Gray arrived at the police station critically injured after he was driven for 45 minutes, handcuffed, shackled and unrestrained in the back of the van.

Goodson is facing second degree murder charges.

Remembrance: Natalie Cole | David Bowie

On the same day we are learning of David Bowie's death. friends and family will celebrate the life of Grammy Award-winning singer Natalie Cole in Los Angeles.

Cole, the daughter of singer Nat King Cole, died of heart failure on New Year's Eve at age 65.

She will be buried next to her parents, sister and brother in Glendale, California.

Meanwhile, pop icon David Bowie has lost his 18 month battle with cancer. He was 69.

$1 For A Gallon Of Gas?

A lot of drivers are wondering; how low will gas prices go this year?

According to AAA, says the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas today is a dollar-96.

Here in Minnesota the current average is a dollar-81 - some stations are below that.

Drivers in 10 southern states are paying a $1.75 or less.

Experts say tumbling oil prices combined with strong refinery capacity could push the price of gas to a dollar a gallon in some areas.

Golden Globes

The biggest stars of film and television came together in Beverly Hills last night for the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards.

"The Revenant" won top honors, taking home the statues for best picture/drama, best director and best actor, Leonardo Di Caprio.

Brie Larson took home the award for best actress in a drama for 'Room.' And Sylvester Stallone won best supporting actor for the movie "Creed".
