4 Things To Know For April 3, 2016
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Here's a look at the four things you need to know for April 3, 2016.
Number One: Dayton Joins Travel Ban
Gov. Mark Dayton is banning state employees from non-essential travel to North Carolina.
The unprecedented move is a response to that state's new law that requires transgender people to use public restrooms that correspond with their gender at birth.
The governor calls that law discriminatory and says he will veto any similar legislation that reaches his desk in Minnesota.
Number Two: North Dakota Republican Convention
North Dakota does not hold a primary or caucuses.
Instead, people at the North Dakota Republican State Convention on Sunday are scheduled to pick 25 of their 28 national delegates.
They will go to the national convention unbound to any of the presidential candidates.
Ted Cruz was the only candidate to visit North Dakota's convention on Saturday.
Number Three: Goodbye To Nye's
Sunday is your last chance to visit Nye's Polonaise Room in northeast Minneapolis.
The nightclub is closing after 67 years in business because the property is being redeveloped.
Nye's opens at 11 a.m. for food and drinks. Live music starts at 1 p.m.
Nye's closes at 2 a.m. for good.
Number Four: Twins Season Starts Tomorrow
The Minnesota Twins open their season Monday on the road.
They will take on the Baltimore Orioles just after 2 p.m.
The Twins' Home Opener is a week from Monday at 3:10 p.m. against the Chicago White Sox.
