4 Hurt After Car Jumps Curb Outside Dunn Brothers

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Four people are hurt Thursday night after a car went up onto the sidewalk at a busy intersection in St. Paul.

It happened about an hour ago at Snelling and Grand avenues.

The corner, adjacent to Macalester College, is home to shops and restaurants.

Police say the driver was distracted and drove across the westbound lanes of the road and hit pedestrians.

Witnesses said when the car jumped the curb, they saw benches and tables go flying in the air.

Two of the people were treated for possibly broken bones, but there were no life-threatening injuries.

"We always have 10 to 15 people sitting on these benches drinking coffee," Guillermo Olivos, a Dunn Brothers barista, said. "It's a miracle more people weren't seriously injured."

Police don't think the driver was drinking or on drugs. They think he was distracted.
