BCA Identifies Crystal Police Officer Who Was Run Over By Car

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says Jessica Donahue is the Crystal police officer who was run over last Thursday by a driver who had been fleeing state troopers.

Police say the driver wouldn't pull over for speeding on the interstate, and led Minnesota State Patrol deputies on a chase that ended up in Crystal.

The car -- which police say was driven by 19-year-old Shi Sho of Des Moines, Iowa -- was soon boxed in by squad cars and officers on foot near Bass Lake Road and West Broadway Avenue.

Police say Sho tried to maneuver away and struck Donahue, who was then ran over. The BCA says Donahue then fired her gun while injured on the ground. No one was hit.

Donahue, a 19-year-veteran of the department, has been released from the hospital and is still recovering. She is on standard administrative leave.

Two teens were in the car with Sho at the time. He was charged last Friday with second-degree assault and fleeing a peace officer.

The BCA is still investigating.
