3 Charged In Downtown Mpls. Drive-By Shooting
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Three people involved in a drive-by shooting in downtown Minneapolis early Saturday morning have been charged with weapons and riot offenses.
According to the Hennepin County Attorney's office, Michael Rolack Jr., TyLynne Wilson and Loretha Peoples were charged in connection with a shootout that happened just before 2:30 a.m. on 2nd Avenue near 5th Street.
Witnesses say the trio were in an SUV and exchanged fire with another vehicle. Stray bullets from the shootout hit two women who were in another car. Dyshone Brow of Maple Grove, 23, and Leosha Bellfield of Minneapolis, 22, both suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Soon after the shootout, police pulled over the trio's SUV on Interstate 94 due to a witness' description of the vehicle's unique rims.
Police found a handgun that was reported stolen in between Rolack and Wilson in the front seat, as well as a bullet casing on the floor by Wilson that matched the gun's caliber.
Rolack Jr. of Minneapolis, 23, is charged with second-degree assault, one count of drive-by shooting, one count of felon in possession of a firearm and one count of theft.
Wilson of Minneapolis, 31, is charged with theft, second-degree riot and felon in possession of a firearm.
And Peoples of Columbia Heights, 32, is charged with second-degree riot.
