2nd Escaped New Richmond Inmate Captured In Madison

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A second of three escaped inmates is in police custody Friday afternoon, according to the New Richmond Police Department.

Police say they received a tip that one of the three inmates who escaped from the St. Croix Correctional Facility late Wednesday may be in Madison, Wisconsin. Investigators passed on the information to the local authorities in Wisconsin's capital city.

At around 3:00 p.m. Friday, inmate Andre Lee Vance was located in the city and taken into custody of the Dane County Sheriff's Department, where he is currently being held.

Vance, Kyle Peterson and Jesse Fairley escaped from the minimum security prison in New Richmond late Wednesday night. All three men were serving time for nonviolent offenses.

A stolen vehicle was recovered three miles north of New Richmond, which police say may be related to the escape.

Peterson was arrested Friday morning in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Police say they believe the last inmate, Jesse Fairley, is in the city of New Richmond, and encourage residents to keep their homes locked at night as a general safety precaution.
