27-Year-Old Arrested After Fleeing Police In Stolen Car

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A St. Cloud man was arrested early Saturday morning after he led police on a high-speed chase in a stolen car.

According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office, around 1:50 a.m. officers attempted to stop a 2006 Saturn as it entered the city of Spicer for driving at speeds greater than 70 mph on southbound Highway 23.

Police said car had been reported stolen from the city of St. Cloud shortly after 1 a.m.

Deputies were able to catch up to the driver in Spicer and attempted a second stop, but the driver sped off at 90 mph.

The pursuit ended after the driver lost control of the vehicle at 1st Street and Becker Avenue, where crashed into the curb and a stop sign. No one was hurt as a result of the crash.

Police arrested the 27-year-old man on charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and other related driving charges.

He is currently being held in Kandiyohi County Jail waiting official charges.
