25 Veterans Get Prestigious Service Honor At St. Thomas Event

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Humanities Center's Veterans' Voices Award Ceremony honored 25 outstanding Minnesota veterans Sunday night.

WCCO-TV's Reg Chapman emceed the event. The veterans awarded have honorably served and shown exemplary community service, were nominated by fellow citizens and selected from a long list of nominees by a panel of their peers.

Twelve are "Legacy" veterans who are 41 and older and 13 are "On the Rise," 40 and younger.

Veterans who have gone above and beyond the call of duty were honored with this prestigious award at the Anderson Student Center on the campus of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. Keynote speakers included Representatives Jerry Newton and Bob Dettmer, who are both veterans and are co-authors of legislation that designated Veterans' Voices Month in Minnesota.
