2 Teenagers Injured In Pierce Co. Car Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two teenage girls were injured when a semi-truck collided with a car on Thursday afternoon in Pierce County.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office, around 4:22 p.m. officers responded to a call of a semi-truck and car crash on U.S. Highway 10 near the intersection of County Road U.

Upon arrival, officers learned 16-year-old Mikayla G. Afdahl, of Elmwood, Wis., was traveling westbound on Hwy. 10 when she attempted to turn left onto County Road U.

At that point, a semi-truck driven by 37-year-old Gregory M. Vaneman, of Arkansas, Wis., was traveling eastbound and collided with Afdahl.

Afdahl had one passenger, 16-year-old Addysen R.E. Welch, also from Elmwood, Wis. Welch was transferred to Regions Hospital with undetermined injuries. Afdahl was transported to River Falls Area Hospital.

Vaneman was uninjured.

This accident is currently under investigation by the Pierce County Sheriff's Office.
