2 In Ramsey Co. Charged With Possessing Untaxed Tobacco

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two Ramsey County men face felony charges after being found to have untaxed tobacco in their possession.

Mushtak Sadoun AlSayab and Hussam Masoud have each been charged with two counts of possession of untaxed tobacco products.

According to the Ramsey County Attorney's Office, on Aug. 21, 2014 and Sept. 17, 2014 AlSayab and Masoud possessed more than $2,500 worth of untaxed tobacco products.

Further investigation found the two men traveled to Chicago, where the tax on tobacco is cheaper, to purchase the products. They then returned to Minnesota with the intent to resell the products.

The total amount of untaxed tobacco prodcuts was $5,220.

If guilty, AlSayab and Masoud face a maximum of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both for each count.
