2 Mpls. Women Seriously Injured In Crash With Metro Transit Squad

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two Minneapolis women were seriously injured Friday night after their vehicle collided with a Metro Transit police squad car in downtown Minneapolis.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Park Avenue and 8th Street South.

The squad car was travelling northbound on Park Avenue, while 24-year-old Rahma Hassan and 30-year-old Amina Jama were driving eastbound on 8th Street in a Suzuki Forenza.

Their collision caused the Suzuki to then crash into the Hennepin County Medical Center building -- where both women were soon admitted for treatment.

The officers, who have not yet been identified, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The state patrol is investigating.
