2 Men Injured In St. Paul Skyway Assault

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A St. Paul man says he and a friend were attacked as they walked through the downtown St. Paul skyway last week.

Tom Klein's tooth punctured his cheek in the attack, and his 59-year-old friend and co-worker -- who uses a cane -- suffered a broken wrist.

Klein says he and a group of friends were walking through the Bremer Tower skyway near Minnesota and 7th streets when a friend jokingly jumped on his back.

Another group approached them and offered to beat that friend up.

Klein says he tried to explain, but instead was struck.

"It was just sudden when they just hit me on the side of the face and I had no idea it was coming," Klein said.

He thinks there were about six males in the group, and most of them were wearing red jackets.

The St. Paul Police said via Twitter that a suspect has been arrested in relation to the assault.

Police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Michael Jackson of St. Paul.

St. Paul police are investigating.
