2 Killed In Fridley Motorcycle Crash Identified

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the two victims in a fatal Fridley motorcycle crash.

Authorities say two people were killed after their three-wheeled motorcycle crashed into a mini-van shortly after 3 p.m. Monday.

The mini-van was turning onto East River Road from 79th Way NE when the motorcycle apparently ran a red light and struck it. The van driver had a child with her in the car. Both were transported to Unity Hospital, but suffered no injuries.

The motorcycle occupants were killed. On Tuesday, they were identified as 52-year-old Duane Gorden Bixler of Fridley, who was driving, and 48-year-old Joni Sue Miranda of St. Paul. They were not wearing helmets.

The fatalities, according to public safety officials, mark the first fatal motorcycle crash of 2016.
