5-Year-Old Girl, Her Mother Among 3 Dead In Head-On Crash

MANKATO, Minn. (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol says a 5-year-old girl, her mother and a 65-year-old man are dead after a head-on crash north of Mankato Sunday afternoon.

The fatal accident occurred east of Belgrade Township on Highway 169 near Highway 14, and involved a Dodge Caliber and a Ford F-150.

According to the State Patrol, the Dodge was traveling southbound on Hwy 169 while the Ford was traveling northbound. The Dodge lost control, crossed the center median and collided head-on with the Ford.

The occupants of the Dodge, a mother and daughter, were killed. They have been identified as 36-year-old Lindi Paul and Emma Paul, both of St. Peter.

The driver of the Ford, identified as 65-year-old Michael Oboyle, also died in the crash. One other passenger, a 4-year-old girl, suffered serious injuries. Two other passengers are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
