2 In Custody After Attempted Robbery, Shootout At Shakopee Walmart

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two men are in custody after a Craigslist transaction turned into a shooting in Shakopee Tuesday night.

Officers say one of the suspects and the victim met in the entryway of a Walmart on Old Carriage Court at around 6:30 p.m. Police say the suspect was holding the phone intended to be sold, when he suddenly ran out to the parking lot, where the other suspect was waiting in a van.

Investigators say the victim gave chase, until the suspect pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the victim. The victim -- a concealed weapons permit holder -- then darted behind a shopping cart, and pulled out his own weapon, firing at the suspect as he got into the van.

The van managed to get away with the cell phone, but police were able to arrest the two men -- ages 20 and 21 from Bloomington.

For safety of the customers, the store was briefly put on lockdown.
