2 Hospitalized, 2 Firefighters Evaluated After Mpls. House Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two male victims have been hospitalized and two firefighters are being evaluated after a house fire in Minneapolis early Tuesday morning.

According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, crews received a call at 3:43 a.m. from a neighbor of a house fire at a two-story home in the 2700 block of 18th Avenue South.

Upon arrival, crews saw flames coming from the front porch. The first floor was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters searched the home for the start of the fire and found a male victim on the second floor with second degree burns. He was unconscious and transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.

According to the fire department, a second male victim jumped from the second floor to escape the flames. His injuries are unknown at this point.

Crews said there were reports of kids being inside the home, but a thorough search found no children. The homeowner also confirmed that no kids were inside the home at the time of the fire.

WCCO has been told that two firefighters were also hurt and that one has been transported for evaluation. The other was looked at on the scene.

Firefighters said they are unsure of the relationship between the two males.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
