Police: 2 In Custody After Chase Across Twin Cities

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two people were taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after an attempt to pull over a stolen vehicle resulted in a police chase across the Twin Cities, according to police.

Authorities say the incident started at about 12:34 p.m. An officer with the Golden Valley Police Department was on patrol in the area of Theodore Wirth Parkway and Golden Valley Road and initiated a traffic stop of a confirmed stolen vehicle. The driver did not stop and fled, leading to a pursuit.

The chase went on eastbound Interstate 94 across Minneapolis and into St. Paul, where the suspect exited at Dale Street. The Golden Valley officer used a PIT maneuver on the vehicle, which ended the chase.

Authorities say a male driver was taken into custody while still in the vehicle. A female passenger fled on foot, but was taken into custody a short time later.

The names of the suspects have not been released. There were no injuries in the pursuit.
