2 Arrested After Chase, Suspected Burglaries

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 26-year-old man was arrested Monday, after leading police on a chase from St. Paul to Cottage Grove, Minn. Officials say the man had multiple felony warrants out for his arrest.

Cottage Grove officers were notified of the police chase that originated in St. Paul and ended in Cottage Grove. An officer coming into work saw the suspect's vehicle stopped on the shoulder of Highway 61, near Hyde around 5:23 a.m.

The driver fled on foot.

The officer was able to arrest the passenger, who also had a warrant out for her arrest. She was identified as 31-year-old Katherine Louise Swanson, of St. Paul.

However, officers could not locate the driver.

At approximately 10:40 a.m., Cottage Grove officers were dispatched to an area near the 8600 block of Hilo Lane on a report of an unwanted man in a camper. The description of the man matched that of the suspect from the police chase.

Officers set up a perimeter but the suspect began running through the neighborhood. He was seen by witnesses running through a parking lot on East Point Douglas and eventually was spotted kicking the door of a garage on the 7500 block of East Point Douglas, in an attempt to hide in the garage.

Officers entered the garage and arrested him.

He was identified as Nicholaos Michael Kremetis, of St. Paul. Officers found evidence on Kremetis that police say link him to burglaries in the immediate area.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
