10 Years After Vandalism, Hindu Temple Builds 'Garden For Peace'

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (WCCO) -- Ten years after vandals desecrated Hindu sculptures, a community is coming together to commemorate that day.

The Hindu Temple in Maple Grove broke ground Saturday for the Garden for Peace & Reflection. The garden is on the spot where the deities are buried.

The group says it will symbolize moral values of love and forgiveness. They say it's the most positive response to such a terrible act.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who was the Hennepin County Attorney at the time, was the guest of honor at the ceremony.
