1 Seriously Injured After Collision With Garbage Truck

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One person is in critical condition after a crash Monday morning that's being partially blamed on the icy road conditions.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 32-year-old Nadifo Hashi, of Minneapolis, was driving north on Interstate 35W at 46th Street when he lost control and spun out.

Hashi's vehicle then hit the curb and bounced back into traffic, where it was broadsided by a garbage truck.

Emergency workers brought Hashi to Hennepin County Medical Center, where hospital officials say he is in critical condition.

The driver of the garbage truck, 54-year-old Alan Himmler, of Minneapolis, did not suffer any injuries, nor did his passenger, 44-year-old Robert Messinger, of Brooklyn Park.

The crash remains under investigation.
