1 Killed In Wisconsin Van-Semi Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Wisconsin State Patrol says one person is dead after a collision between a van and semi-truck Thursday.

According to the state patrol, a Dodge Caravan was traveling west on Interstate 94 near Woodville, Wisconsin at 11:14 p.m. when it was struck by a semi traveling in the same direction and pushed into the ditch.

The driver of the van, an 83-year-old John Sundeen of Florida, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Regions Hospital. He died the next day.

The driver of the semi, 46-year-old Corey Dicks of Colfax, Wisconsin, was not injured in the crash.

According to an initial investigation, it appears the mini-van slowed down and almost stopped in the traffic lane prior to the crash. The semi driver swerved to avoid hitting the van, but still stuck it, pushing it into the ditch.

The crash remains under investigation.
