1 Killed In 3-Car Crash on I-35 In Faribault

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person is dead after a car hit two vehicles on Interstate 35 in Faribault, Minn. Sunday night.

Mach Kuel, 39, of Coon Rapids died Sunday after the car he was traveling in hit one vehicle and side-swiped another.

Police said they responded to a call about an accident around 11: 17 p.m. Sunday.

According to authorities, Jeana Welton, 52, was stopped on I-35 blocking traffic on the northbound left lane.

A vehicle traveling behind Welton pulled off onto the shoulder to avoid hitting her and put on their hazards.

A third vehicle, in which Kuel was a passenger, was also traveling northbound when the driver, James Tang, 50, side swiped Welton and hit the vehicle on the shoulder.

North Ambulance and the Faribault Fire Department were called to the scene.

According to police, another passenger in Tang's car sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Kuel was pronounced dead on the scene.

Alcohol was not detected in any of the drivers.

No other people were injured.
