MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 79-year-old woman was killed Saturday and an 88-year-old man was injured when the motorcycle they were on in western Wisconsin lost control and went into the ditch, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash at about 12:27 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 63 and 180th Avenue in Erin Prairie Township. An investigation showed that a 2012 Honda Trike GL 8000 was heading southbound on Highway 63 when it went into the southwest ditch at 180th Avenue.

The two people aboard the motorcycle, both of Deer Park, Wis., were ejected and taken to Regions Hospital. The passenger, Charlene Kastens, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver, Robert Kastens, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

Authorities said both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash and what led up to the accident is under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office. It's the fourth fatal accident in Wisconsin this year.
