1 Hospitalized After Fiery Crash On Hwy. 55

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person was hospitalized after a fiery crash on Highway 55 early Friday morning.

According to Minneapolis police, just before 12:30 a.m. police and fire crews responded to a crash at Olson Memorial Highway and Bryant Avenue.

Upon arrival, crews learned a car had crashed into a traffic light and subsequently burst into flames.

Firefighters had to extricate the driver from the burning car.

The driver was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and is in critical condition.

There was substantial damage to the vehicle.

At this point, it is unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved.

Minneapolis police and fire crews are continuing to investigate.
