1 Dead In Car Crash Near MSP

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person is dead after a crash on Highway 62 near the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Friday morning.

According to the city of Eagan, just before 1:30 a.m. Eagan police received a report of a robbery at a Holiday gas station on the 3040 block of Holiday Lane.

Upon arrival to the gas station, police said a car without license plates leaving the area. Police attempted to stop the car and it fled at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the car to Cedar Avenue and Highway 62, near MSP. The car then crashed.

The 29-year-old male driver, and sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

City officials said further investigation lead people to believe the suspect's vehicle was stolen out of Indiana.

Police said the suspect and vehicle were not involved in the robbery.

The Minnesota State Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash. The Eagan Police Department is investigating the robbery.
